Eagle Rare Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey is honoring those who share their passion for excellence with the “Rare Life Award.” Some nominees are heroic. Some inspirational. Some just make an impact in their corner of the world. But all have one thing in common, they lead rare lives.

Our very own SSG Elizabeth Cowie has been nominated for the Rare Life Award. SSG Cowie serves fulltime in the California Army National Guard and was an inspiration back in 2003 as she and Carolyn Blashek, founder of Operation Gratitude, shared the same passion – to create a special support system for the brave men and women who deploy overseas. From their serendipitous meeting, Operation Gratitude was born, and to date over 600,000 packages have been sent to service members deployed in harm’s way.

SSG Cowie goes after what she wants and works hard until she gets it, even enduring a life-threatening illness while serving her country overseas. Following her own deployment, SSG Cowie continues to serve and support her military family through Operation Gratitude, ensuring that deployed troops will receive the love and appreciation of the American people. “On the hardest of days, that support reminds us of the great people we serve, of the life and liberties that we have, so you get up the next day and start all over again,” states Cowie.

Let’s help recognize SSG Cowie for her passion, excellence and devotion to her troops! Read her story and vote for SSG Cowie in the “Rare Life Award” Contest today and every day through December 31, 2010.

Along with the coveted prize of a $10,000 donation to the charity of their choice, the winner will receive a reception in their honor.

Vote for SSG Elizabeth Cowie by clicking the vote box on her page at the Sponsor’s site: . Every person can vote once per day per computer/browser.

Thank you for your patriotic support!

About Operation Gratitude

Operation Gratitude annually sends 200,000+ care packages to Veterans, First Responders, New Recruits, Wounded Heroes, their Care Givers, and to individually named U.S. service members deployed overseas and their families waiting at home. Each package is filled with food, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items, as well as personal letters of support. Our mission is to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of the Military and First Responder communities, and provide volunteer opportunities for civilians anywhere in America to express their appreciation to all who serve our nation. Each package contains donated product valued between $45 and $100 and costs our organization $15 to assemble and ship. Since its inception in 2003, Operation Gratitude volunteers have shipped more than 1.6 Million Care Packages.
