What an honor it was to be a part of the welcome home celebration for Vietnam veterans returning to Oshkosh, Wisconsin following their Old Glory Honor Flight adventures in Washington, D.C. on August 2.

I commend your organization in what you’re doing and what you’ve done on behalf of the many sisters and brothers of the Viet Man War. And for all of the military personnel and their families. This I’m sure, helps in the keeping up of one’s morale and keeps up the human spirit. I believe the hardest part for all of the military families, is the part of not knowing what’s happening to their loved ones when their so far away from home.
My father never wrote to me when I was overseas. It was for the best. He never knew where I was at, because I was always moving around (from base to country). My step-mother was very happy…..

Of all the veterans, these were the ones that came home to jeers, not cheers. I was an infant, but I remember doing some research on my own as I got older to try to understand. These are some of the greatest heros of all. God bless these warriors and all they went through abroad and upon their return. Vietnam was a difficult time for all. Thank you Operation Gratitude for leaving no one out!
