Have you heard the news? The U.S. Navy announced its choice of Operation Gratitude as its 2011 Spirit of Hope Award honoree.
The Spirit of Hope Award began in 1997 by the Wiegand Foundation, Inc. in honor
of actor and comedian Bob Hope, who was known and beloved for his humanitarian work and involvement with U.S. Armed Forces. Every year the award is given to distinguished Americans and organizations whose patriotism, selflessness and commitment to the troops reflects that of the late Bob Hope.
From the Navy Personnel Command website:
In keeping with the spirit of the award, the Navy has proudly submitted a nominee, annually since 2005, who has epitomized our core values and the selfless spirit of Bob Hope: duty, honor, courage, loyalty, commitment, integrity and dedication. Their tireless contributions to the Navy have significantly enhanced the quality of life of Sailors and their families serving around the world. Past recipients have also shown a true desire and deep devotion to uplift the spiritual, social, educational, and entertainment needs of the men and women in the United States Navy.
It is tremendously gratifying for us to know that the selfless and generous work of our wonderful volunteers, donors and corporate sponsors is being honored and recognized in this special way as we “
March to a Million” care packages. With your continued help, we will send our milestone MILLIONTH package in 2013!
This Spirit of Hope Award is for all who have supported our Mission to thank deployed troops, veterans, wounded warriors and military families for their service to our great nation. In November when Operation Gratitude’s founder, Carolyn Blashek, travels to the Pentagon she will accept the award on your behalf.
As always, THANK YOU for your support!
